Prepare Your Rental for the Season: Deep Clean

Prepare Your Rental for the Season: Deep Clean

It’s sometimes impossible to do a deep clean between guests but doing one before the busy rental season is always a must. Vacation rentals go through their share of wear and tear with all the back to back turnovers and guests coming and going. Deep cleaning allows you to really focus on the things that can’t be addressed in the regular cleanings between guests. Whether you do it yourself or hire professionals here are some of our favorite deep cleaning tips.

Declutter Time

Out with the old and in with the new. Use this time to discard any worn or broken items and replace where necessary. declutter and remove any unnecessary items because often times less is more. Decluttering makes deep cleaning easier and seeing those tidy surfaces can help boost your motivation to keep going.

Start High and Go Low

Dust falls to the floor during cleaning, so start high and work your way down. Tackle hard to reach surfaces starting with the ceiling,  light fixtures, ceiling fans, walls, the rest of the trim, and baseboards. Starting high with cleaning means you are less likely to miss something.

Don't Forget Windows

Windows are a large area of your rental that require extra attention. It’s an important step that can affect the overall lighting and brightness in your room. Dirty windows are noticeable and have an effect on the overall lighting in the room. Start by vacuuming the sills and tracks then clean the windows with some glass cleaner.

Finish with Floors

While your floors get lots of cleaning on a regular basis, there are many spots that can build up dirt, dust and pet hair that may need a thorough cleaning too. Vacuum and wash your floors, making sure to move all furniture to clean underneath. Don’t forget about vacuuming the corners and baseboard. To mop, use a mixture of mild soap and warm water then soak up any dampness with a microfiber cloth.
