This historic lighthouse was built in 1872 also known as The South Haven Pierhead Light. The lighthouse is still in operation today, with visitors being able to take a guided tour that is offered by the Michigan Maritime Museum. Enjoy the views along the shoreline of Lake Michigan, and admire the phenomenal landscaping that comes with it.
South Haven has seven public beaches and access sites. The main beaches are North beach and South beach. They have concessions, playgrounds, restrooms, and parking lots for easy access. The quaint downtown shopping district is completely walkable and filled with brightly colored flowers along the sidewalks.

One full mile of sandy beaches and towering dunes and trails to wander through makes Van Buren State Park a must-see on any trip to the South Haven area. It’s the perfect location to lounge on the beach, walk through woodland trails and enjoy a picnic. In addition to camping, there is also biking, hiking, and metal detecting as well as a picnic area with shelter, playground, and restrooms for day use.
