Outdoor Fun

Cross Country Skiing

There’s cross country skiing all across West Michigan and near all our properties. Check out our blog for a more in-depth guide on cross country skiing on the lakeshore!

Ice Skating

Near our properties in South Haven, they have a great outdoor ice rink great for all ages and families. And if you come in February you can witness their ice sculpture competition at the Ice Breaker Festival full of fun with a chili cook-off, sleigh rides, and ice skating shows! Ice Skating is also in Holland,  with a large indoor rink and in Muskegon, mentioned above.

Snow Shoeing

If you aren’t close to Spring Lake or Muskegon, don’t fret as all of our properties are near places for snowshoeing. Pigeon Creek sits just north of Holland with rentals available and a plethora of trails to get your snowshoe on. They also have sledding and cross country ski rentals. In Saugatuck/Douglas, there is Allegan County Trails which is a great independent area for snowshoeing and you can rent your equipment in downtown Saugatuck at Landsharks. There’s more detailed information on our cross country skiing blog on our site!

4 in 1 Fun

Near our picturesque lakeside home, The Lookout, in Spring Lake, we have the Muskegon Winter Sports Complex. They have something fun for everyone. The complex is home to outdoor ice skating, cross country skiing, luging, and snowshoeing. All activities have great night time options too! Nothing says thrill like a giant slide. You can think of luging in a similar manner. Designed by olympians, the luge track is 1 of only 4 in the United States. You’ll be provided equipment and training before the best slide ride of your life. The complex’s ice skating is one of the best and unique in West Michigan with an ice skating trail through the forest. Cross Country Skiing is a staple activity in West Michigan, and the Muskegon Winter Sports Complex doesn’t exclude themselves from it. With 2 types of skiing from ice skiing, to classic cross country, you’ll be immersed in your own winter wonderland. Last but certainly not least, snowshoeing is also offered by the complex. Hiking is not just a summer activity especially with snowshoes. With 4 different trails ranging from easy to challenging and equipment rentals, you’re all set to begin your winter adventures. After your fun winter activities you can warm up by their bonfire with a warm and cozy cup of hot chocolate!

Indoor Fun

West Michigan is popular for its food. The winter doesn’t change that, but it enhances it with cozy and comforting menus set to make your winter wonderland vacation as memorable as possible. Warm up after a long wintry day and satisfy your winter tastebuds with a delicious meal and Michigan-made craft beverage from the lakeshore’s farmhouse cideries, breweries, and distillery tasting rooms.

Explore the many unique boutiques and stores located in the downtowns. Each town has a different atmosphere with well-curated stores that are calling your name! You can be sure to treat yourself and find a local souvenir or two to bring home. During the winter, tree-lined streets adorned with sparkling lights will keep your spirits warm and bright.

Towns across the lakeshore aren’t a stranger to entertainment. In South Haven, you’ll find Rocket Arcade, a place for adults to relive their childhood and for children to have fun. It’s a place for retro with games from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. In Holland you’ll find Lost City, a place where fun goes to live. With arcade games, mini golf, and laser tag, the fun will last for hours on end. Not only are there gaming centers in town, but the majority of our properties come with in house games and board games. You and the rest of your family and friends won’t be bored!

In winter, it’s customary for your skin to dry and those winter blues to take that summer glow from you. But what better way to revitalize yourself than with a massage or facial. Near many of our properties you’ll be able to find spas galore. Located in Holland, Salubrity Vida Spa has unique experiences to offer with floating therapy, infrared sauna, oxygen bar, and zero gravity massage chair. They also offer classic services like full body massage and facials. And don’t forget about Saugatuck/Douglas. Our top spa picks are Redefine Med Spa and Wellness Co. They’ll take care of all your spa needs. Redefine Med Spa has everything from massage and facials to botox, waxing, and tanning to give you that winter glow. Wellness Co offers a slightly different experience. They specialize in health and wellness services including microneedling, hydra facials, IV therapy and much more.
